Every so often an economist articulates an idea that is worth repeating or discussing. Ken Goldstein of the Conference Board did just that recently when he enumerated the three biggest uncertainties that will effect the economy, at least in the near term.
1. Pace of business spending
2. Improvement in consumer spending power
3. Impact of slower global growth on U.S. exports
While none of these uncertainties are surprising, seen together, it is no wonder that money exiting the bond market has been reluctant to migrate into equities.
