Bono, the lead singer of the Irish rock band U2, is well known for his philanthropy and commitment to aid for developing countries.  I have always admired him because he gives his time and talent as well as his money.  At a recent speech at Georgetown University, he stated that only capitalism can end poverty.  From the linked article:

“Aid is just a stopgap,” he said. “Commerce [and] entrepreneurial capitalism take more people out of poverty than aid. We need Africa to become an economic powerhouse.”

Bono encouraged students to think of what they can do to support those in Africa and other developing nations that are in need of justice and comfort.
